Fall
Fall is a 36 page hardback picture book, written and illustrated by Chris Odgers. Through illustrations, reminiscent of Victorian woodcut/etching with a contemporary edge, supported by romantic, macabre poetry, the story is told of a boy named Harvey who has discovered on Halloween that he has the most bizarre costume of all. For a piece, the shape of a jigsaw puzzle is missing from his chest, much to the alarm of his two friends Jack (a pumpkin head scarecrow), and Sarah (a skeleton cowgirl). Putting trick or treat aside in the name of friendship, the trio set out on a rollercoaster ride through memory and metaphor, resulting in a Halloween the three will never forget.
Set to gothic, romantic prose, the hardback, 36-page book is printed on quality-recycled paper and limited to a 1000 print run, 900 standard copies and 100 special.
Fall was originally released through Collision, an imprint of Atlantic Press Books. It is presently out of print, a second printing from Sawhorse Books is planned toward the end of the year.
